A lawyer clarified her past statement about Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings
Atty. Joji Alonso clarified that she is not the legal counsel of Kapamilya loveteam partners Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings.
Amid the loud buzz that the controversy that involved Maris and Antony created on social media, different opinions were expressed online. Aside from the criticism or the show of support, some posts also talked about the legal matters surrounding the issue.
Atty. Joji was one of the people who talked about the legal implications of Jam Villanueva’s decision to publicly divulge the intimate conversation between Maris and Anthony.
The lawyer stressed that Jam “may have committed at least 2 crimes with her actions – cyber libel and violation of data privacy.” She, on the other hand, stressed that what Maris and Anthony have done may be considered morally wrong but they were not married to their ex-partners.
Although there were netizens who agreed or supported the lawyer’s statement, there were also those who did not like what she said.
In a recent interview, based on that article in Bandera, Atty. Joji clarified that she is not representing Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings and that what she posted was her own personal opinion.
She also stressed that she does not condone cheating because she also had experienced this in the past. However, she does not consider going above the law because of what happened.
“I have been a victim of cheating so I know what it’s like to be cheated upon. Masakit ‘yun! But the law is the law, ‘yun lang naman ‘yung point ko du’n, eh,” the lawyer said.
Then, she said that the issue has legalities and it is not good to go that way because if she did, she would have to discuss VAWC (Violence Against Women and their Children) and the psychological aspect.
Atty. Joji also shared that there was someone who approached her who she cannot divulge and there were talks but she can’t reveal the details. “My opinion was asked and I gave,” she shared.
