Another Impeachment Complaint Set To Be Filed vs. VP Sara Duterte for Public Trust Betrayal
SARA DUTERTE – More than 70 individuals are allegedly set to file another impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
The most controversial politician in the Philippines now is Vice Pres. Duterte. There are questions regarding the budget utilization of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd). Her recent remarks against the Marcoses also earned her criticisms.
Vice Pres. Duterte has repeatedly skipped the hearings set by the House of Representatives over the use of the funds of the offices she led. Duterte declined to attend the hearing on her offices’ budget use saying that she already did before but there was nothing asked of her.
Recently, 16 individuals signed an impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Duterte. One of them is Kiko Aquino Dee, the grandson of the late former Senator Ninoy Aquino and the late former Pres. Cory Aquino, who find the discussion of the OVP and DepEd budget utilization insufficient.
Kiko also does not understand while certain things like the seminars of the students have to be put under the Confidential Funds of the education department. He stressed his view being a teacher himself.
Amid the pending impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, another impeachment complaint seemingly waits at the corner. Based on a report on GMA News, over 70 individuals from the different sectors are set to file another impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
The upcoming impeachment complaint is due to an alleged betrayal of public trust in connection with the supposed misuse of the Confidential Funds. Based on a report, the impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will be endorsed by the Makabayan Bloc.
“Mayroon tayong mga leaders ng iba’t ibang organizations na naghahabol na gusto maging bahagi ng complainants,” Kabataan Party-list Representative Raoul Manuel said.
Manuel also said that different sectors persevere to be part of the formal proceedings of the impeachment. According to him, as much as they can, they want to entertain the people who wants to be part of the complaint so there would be a wide representation of the different groups and sectors.
Despite the worries of two (2) House lawmakers regarding the schedule for the process of the impeachment complaints, Kabataan Party-list Representative Raoul Manuel is optimistic that there is an enough time. Based on the report, he also stressed that it is part of the job of the House members.
“We owe it to the people. Trabaho natin ‘yung asikasuhin ang kahit anumang impeachment complaint na mai-file,” he said.
Previously, the House lawmakers confirmed that the lower chamber is mandated to process the impeachment complaint against Duterte.
