Russian Actress Kamilla Belyatskaya Lost Her Life After Being Swept Away by Giant Wave
The Russian Actress Kamilla Belyatskaya lost her life in a tragic accident after being swept by a giant wave in Koh Samui, Thailand.
The 24-year-old actress was swept away by a giant wave while meditating on a rocky spot near the sea on a holiday with her fiancé. The incident happened a few days before her wedding day.
On that day, Kamilla decided to spend some quiet time at the Lad Koh viewpoint, a popular place with breathtaking views of the Gulf of Thailand. She brought her yoga mat and settled on the rocks, planning to meditate and soak in the peaceful surroundings.
While she was meditating, a huge wave crashed onto the rocks and dragged her into the water. The strong current made it impossible for her to swim back to safety. A nearby bystander tried to help, but even they couldn’t fight the force of the waves.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene, but the sea was incredibly rough, with waves as high as 10 feet. After searching for hours, her body was found the next evening, washed ashore about a kilometer away from where the incident happened.
Local authorities have since cordoned off the rocky area, warning people to stay away during the monsoon season when the waves can get unpredictable and dangerous. Although Lad Koh isn’t a swimming spot, it’s a favorite for tourists, many of whom might not realize how risky it can be.
“During monsoon season, we constantly warn tourists, especially at high-risk areas like Chaweng and Lamai beaches, where red flags indicate no swimming,” Samui Rescue Center head Chaiyaporn Subprasert said.
