According to DTI, there will be no price hike on most Noche Buena items and basic necessities.
NOCHE BUENA ITEMS – The Department of Trade and Industry says that no price hike will be applied to basic goods until the end of this year.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year again but not for the prices on items we will be needing for this special season. Every year, the prices of the items needed for Noche Buena and other basic goods just keep on increasing but it looks like it will be different for this year.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque recently said that no price hike is seen on these items and other basic goods through the end of the year. She shared this during a press briefing in Malacañang.
As per her words, “more than 50 percent, the price will remain the same as last year” for the items for Noche Buena, and for the rest, there was an increase but it was just less than five percent. They believe that this will not burden the consumers and help them have “a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year”.
As per DTI, despite the adjustments, the significance people give to this season remains robust as the demand is still there. Traditionally, Filipinos love celebrations like this and part of this are Filipino Christmas foods that everyone enjoys.
