This indicates the importance of the individual’s role in the project and some netizens recently aired their disappointment as icons Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez and rapper Gloc-9 seemed to be displaced.
People online expressed objections as to why the names of Bini Johanna, Bini Maloi, James Reid, and Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11 winner Fyang Smith are bigger compared to Velasquez whose presence and contributions in the music industry are more commanding compared to the achievements of all four of them. This was in the MYX Music Awards 2024 promo material.
Her name was written alongside Elijah Canlas, Chloe San Jose, Alexa Ilacad, and KD Estrada.
To many people online, this is such a disrespect to someone who is Asia’s Songbird and a recipient of the MYX Magna Award. One commenter expressed, “This is beyond disrespectful. The lack of respect for Regine Velasquez’s ICONIC legacy is wild. She is the blueprint, the standard, the legend. Do better.”
Due to the buzz this created, the ABS-CBN Digital Team apologized to Velasquez. The iconic singer shared this on her account and quipped that they don’t really have to but she appreciated the gesture.
They sent her flowers and a letter in which they expressed their apology and a promise that this wouldn’t ever happen again.
Velasquez is one of the most successful and influential singers in the Philippines and her talent is recognized both locally and internationally. Her success started after she won Ang Bagong Kampeon at age 14.
She has a chart-topping music career with awards and recognitions from numerous award-giving bodies to solidify her impressive and iconic standing.
