Typhoon Marce strikes Cagayan prompting PAGASA to raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 over parts of Luzon.

On Thursday afternoon (November 7, 2024), Typhoon Marce intensified as it hits the northern provinces of the Philippines, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall to Cagayan. The residents in Sta. Ana were evacuated for safety.

By the afternoon, nearly 2,800 people, or about 919 families, had taken shelter in evacuation centers across the area.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued an alert that the typhoonโ€™s winds reached 175 kilometers per hour (km/h), with gusting of up to 240 kph.

Marceit was predicted to make another landfall in the northern Cagayan region before heading out of the Philippine area of responsibility on Friday (November 8).

Authorities advised the residents in the affected areas to stay alert and follow evacuation orders.
