Sharon Cuneta Shares Story of Flight W/ Doctor Seatmate Unaware of Her Fame
SHARON CUNETA – Actress Sharon Cuneta shares a heartwarming story of her flight with a doctor seatmate who had no idea she was a famous actress.
On a recent Manila-to-Los Angeles flight, Sharon Cuneta, the renowned Filipina actress and singer, had a touching encounter with her seatmate, Dr. Luna, who was unaware of her fame. Sharon shared this delightful experience on social media after discovering a post by Dr. Luna’s child recounting the meeting.
“I met this very sweet lady, Dr. Luna, on my PAL flight to LAX. We were seatmates, and it was a pleasure flying beside her!” Sharon wrote, explaining how she introduced herself simply as “Sharon” and kindly offered to assist Dr. Luna during the journey if needed. Sharon attributed her warm, down-to-earth approach to the values instilled by her parents, which she embraces as a tribute to their legacy.
Dr. Luna’s child revealed that her mother initially didn’t recognize Sharon due to her limited familiarity with Filipino TV shows. At one point, Dr. Luna even asked a flight attendant to serve her snack in the galley to avoid disturbing Sharon’s sleep. It wasn’t until an attendant informed her that Dr. Luna realized who her seatmate was.
“When she walked back, she greeted me with a cheerful ‘Good Morning!’ After which she immediately said ‘You know, I have to apologize to you! I didn’t know I was seated beside the ‘great’ (her word not mine!) Sharon Cuneta!” Sharon recounted. The actress reassured Dr. Luna, explaining that she never expects others to recognize her and that she prefers to introduce herself simply as “Sharon,” rather than her celebrity persona.

What began as a surprise turned into a genuine connection, with Dr. Luna sharing stories from her teenage years to her present life, which brought smiles throughout their flight. Sharon ended her post with heartfelt words for Dr. Luna: “I am happy to have met you, Dr. Luna. If and when I become 87, I pray that I be just as sharp, strong, and beautiful as you! I will never forget you.”
Dr. Luna’s child also noted how Sharon graciously helped with her mother’s luggage and took photos together, creating a memory that all would cherish.
