Here’s what JK Labajo said about Darren Espanto.
During an interview, JK Labajo has this answer when asked about a possible collaboration with Darren Espanto.
Singers JK Labajo and Darren Espanto both started in The Voice Kids Philippines. Years ago, they were involved in a word war on Twitter, now X, and it appears that despite many years having already passed, the two have not ironed things out yet.
It all started when JK’s account posted “gayness as its finest” with Darren tagged on this. The story spread like wildfire and it immediately sparked assumptions and issues online.
However, JK denied the accusations insisting he was not the one to share such kind of post. In 2019, Espanto’s mother filed a case against Labajo because, at that time, Espanto was still a minor.
Recently, during his mediacon at Sentro Artista Art Hub in The Arton Strip Rockwell, Quezon City, he was asked about the possible collaboration with Espanto. The mediacon is for his upcoming concert which will be held at the SM MOA Arena. This is his first major solo concert.
In an interview with PEP Troika, he was asked how were things between him and Espanto and according to him, this is something he doesn’t want to talk about. On his end, love is what matters the most and his doors are open.
As much as possible, he wants to avoid any negativity and a possible collaboration is fine with him.
He said, “I’ve always been fine, actually. I’ve always been open. I’ve always been kind, right? I will not speak on other people and other people’s behalf. From my end… ako, there’s nothing negative.”
Meanwhile, amid the issue about his gender, Espanto cleared that he is straight based on a previous article. There have been rumors ever since about his preference because of the way he sings and his song choices. He made some clarifications for the assumptions to end.
