None of the Sandiganbayan Prosecutors Opposed Marcos Family’s Motion over Ill-Gotten Weath Case
SANDIGANBAYAN – The Court dismissed the P276-million ill-gotten wealth case versus the late former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and former First Lady Imelda.
One of the most popular presidential regime in the Philippines was the reign of the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the father of now Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Undeniably, there are a lot of allegations and rumors that surround the dictator’s term until now.
The allegations about the ill-gotten wealth are among the loudest accusations against the Marcoses. Despite the uncleared issues surrounding the reign of the late Marcos Sr., his only son was able to secure the presidency.
One of Pres. Marcos’ recent moves was the order to increase the salaries of government workers. His bid pushed for a platform of unity in the Philippines. After over two decades, the Marcoses are back in Malacañang.
The late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was the chief executive of the Philippines for around 20 years. He was a dictator following a Martial Law declaration and he was ousted from office through the EDSA People Power Revolution.
For several years, the Marcoses were not allowed to return to the Philippines until the death of the former President in 1989. He died at the age of 72. However, the elder Marcos passed away without the “ill-gotten wealth” issue surrounding his family being cleared.
Recently, the Sandiganbayan has ruled on the ill-gotten wealth case versus the late Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., his wife and former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and their associate, Roman Cruz.
Based on a report on GMA News Online, the case under Civil Case 0006 accused Cruz and the Marcoses of a purchase of residential properties with values that do not align to the income of the family.
The said properties include a residential building in Makati, two (2) residential lots and two (2) condominium units in Baguio City, a parcel of land and 6 condominium units in California, United States; and a residential land in Metro Manila.
The P276-million ill-gotten wealth case against the Marcoses was rolling for 37 years until recently when Sandiganbayan decided to junk it. Based on the report, no state prosecutor opposed the motion of the Marcoses to dismiss the case due to inordinate delay and the violation of due process.
“In fact, the plaintiff tends to agree with the dismissal of the case when it emphasized that there are no more allegations against the estate of Marcos,” Sandiganbayan said.
That’s why the III goten wealth of the Marcoses is approved because the wages of gove4nmwnt employees will be increased That’s why the case was dismissed. Good Sandigan Bayan. Those who have no standing fear of Marcos.
