Ion Perez, the partner of Vice Ganda, decided to enter politics
Netizens recalled the past statement that Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda had about politics after his partner It’s Showtime host Ion Perez filed his certificate of candidacy for councilor in Concepcion, Tarlac.
The Commission on Elections officially opened the election season for the 2025 elections on October 1. This was the start of a week-long filing of COC. Many showbiz personalities who are new to the political scene filed their COC for different positions in different areas of the country.
One of them was Ion, who signed under the Nationalist People’s Coalition in Tarlac province. This garnered different reactions from netizens.
Showbiz page on X, @AltIndayBadiday, shared a post about Ion Perez’s filing of COC. In the comment section of the post, some netizens showed support for Ion’s political endeavor.
However, some netizens expressed negative reactions to his aspiration in politics as they questioned Ion’s capacity to do public service. Some even recalled the time when Vice Ganda was asked about political offers.
To recall, in an interview on Vicki Belo’s YouTube channel, Vice said that he has no plan of entering the political arena. In the interview, the Unkabogable Star admitted that there had been offers for him to run for a high position but he turned these down.
He said that he knows his capabilities and for him, politics is not his forte. “Hindi ako magaling doon, feeling ko pwede akong manalo,” he said. Vice is aware that his fans would really support him but this is not the reason for him to run for a government position.
