Sen. Imee Marcos Files Candidacy as Independent Candidate

IMEE MARCOS – The Presidential Sister an Senator filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) seeking a re-election in the 2025 Elections.

The filing of candidacy before the Commission on Election (Comelec) is now ongoing. A few days ago, several political parties have announced their bets for certain government positions. The admin supports the bets of the grand alliance of five (5) political parties that include the President’s party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

Marcos Senatorial Slate

The PFP merged with the National Unity Party, Lakas-CMD, Nacionalista Party, and the Nationalist People’s Coalition forming a grand alliance. During the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas Convention, Pres. Bongbong Marcos announced that the administration will endorse the following senate slate:

  • Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, 
  • Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, 
  • Senator Pia Cayetano, 
  • Senator Lito Lapid, 
  • Senator Francis Tolentino, 
  • Senator Imee Marcos, 
  • Senator Ramon ”Bong” Revilla Jr., 
  • former Senator Manny Pacquiao,
  • former Senator Panfilo Lacson
  • former Senator Vicente Sotto III, 
  • Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, and 
  • former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo

However, shortly after Pres. Bongbong Marcos announced the senatorial bets of the administration in the 2025 Midterm Election, Sen. Imee Marcos confirmed her decision to withdraw from the senate slate supported by Pres. Bongbong.

According to Sen. Marcos, her decision is for the sake of her brother and to avoid hurting some friends. Pres. Bongbong Marcos welcomed the decision of Senator Imee.

Recently, Sen. Imee Marcos filed her COC seeking for re-election in the 2025 Midterm Election. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, she was accompanied by her sons, Borgy and Michael Manotoc.

Sen. Imee Marcos is running as an independent candidate in the 2025 Midterm Election. Based on the report, speaking to the media, she stressed that she would choose the Filipino people.

“Pinili kong maging malaya para hindi na año kakampi kaninuman laban sa iba. Maigi pa na pillín ang sambayanang Pilipino,” Marcos said.
