Former President Duterte Wishes Swift Recovery of Doc Willie Ong from Cancer
Former President Duterte extended his heartfelt support and prayers for the recovery of Doc Willie Ong who is battling cancer.
The cancer diagnosis of Doc Willie brought sadness to countless Filipinos. He is known for his thousands of videos about health and many health tips to avoid certain diseases. He has millions of followers on social media.
However, Doc Willie was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that is hard to treat. A 16-centimeter lump was located “deeply hidden” behind his heart, in front of his spine. It causes him difficulty in swallowing.
Doc Willie Ong believes that the negative feelings and thoughts he got from the bashings during the 2022 Elections are factors in his cancer. He was a vice presidential candidate and running-mate of former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Aside from his cancer, Doc Willie also went critical for four (4) days early in September because of “neutropenic sepsis”. His white blood cells (WBC) count dropped and he also had low blood pressure level.
Several politicians including Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos, Senator Bong Go, and former Senator Bam Aquino reached out to the cardiologist to expressed their heartfelt support and prayers for him. Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno also visited Doc Willie in Singapore.

“Doc Willie, eh medyo dumadaan tayo ng bumpy road sa buhay. Alam ko kaya mo and nagdadasal kami, most of all, our fervent wish is get well soon. Mabuhay ka,” former President Duterte said.
Recently, Doc Willie announced that he will run for senator in the 2025 Elections. Prior to it, the cardiologist told the Filipino people that everything that he will do is for the people. His wife, Dra. Liza Ramoso-Ong, will be the one who will file his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for him.
