PAGASA Says Tropical Depression Julian to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Tropical Depression Julian will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (September 28, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Depression Julian will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Depression Julian traverses the Philippine Sea. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised over three areas as Julian maintained its strength.

Julian was last spotted 400 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

TCWS No. 1 was raised in the following areas:

  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands;
  • The northeastern portion of Isabela
  • The eastern portion of Apayao

“Julian is forecast to follow a looping path over the waters east of Batanes and Cagayan in the next five days,” PAGASA said.

The tropical depression is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday evening (October 2, 2024) to Thursday early morning (October 3).

The weather disturbance may also bring strong gale-force gusts over Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

Julian will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Batanes, and Isabela.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency is also monitoring Tropical Storm Jebi, which was spotted 2,405 km east of extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and the eastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan will be rough.

“Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels,” PAGASA said.
