7-Year-Old Boy in Caloocan Lost His Life Due to Alleged Snake Bite
CALOOCAN – A 7-year-old boy identified as James Abarabar tragically passed away, allegedly due to a snake bite.
According to his mother, Czarina Abarabar, James was sleeping on the floor when she suddenly saw a snake moving near their door. Alarmed, she quickly told James to leave the house.
Later, James began complaining of a severe stomach ache. He told his mother that his stomach hurt badly and asked for help. His condition worsened as he became pale, delirious, and very thirsty, drinking a lot of water.
“Sabi niya, ‘Ang sakit ng tiyan ko, ma. Tulungan mo ako.’Tapos iyon, tumawag ako sa asawa ko. Sabi ko, “Iyong anak mo, nagdedeliryo, namumutla na, masakit daw tiyan niya tapos uhaw na uhaw siya. Puro siya tubig nang tubig tapos ‘yon, suka siya nang suka,” Czarina said.
Czarina immediately contacted her husband, Bryan Abarabar, as their son’s condition was deteriorating rapidly. Soon after, James started vomiting, prompting them to rush him to the hospital. Unfortunately, James was declared dead on arrival.
The death certificate stated that dehydration and stomach pain were the causes of death. However, the family later noticed a small wound on James’ hand, which led them to believe that it might have been caused by a snake bite.
His mother recalled seeing the mark on his hand and realized it could be the result of a snake bite.
James’ father, Bryan, who was away at work during the incident, expressed regret for not being there when his son needed him most. He wished he could have held his son one last time before his passing.
Local authorities in Bagong Silang, led by Purok Leader Jonathan Curioso, said that snake attacks in their area are rare. However, they plan to strengthen their watch to prevent similar incidents.
They also remind residents to immediately report any sightings of snakes, especially during times when heavy rains and rising rivers could lead to more snake encounters.
