Alice Guo To Transfer To Pasig City Jail

The court orders Alice Guo to be moved to the city jail.

The Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) ordered the transfer of dismissed mayor Alice Guo to the Pasig City Jail female dormitory.

From the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Quezon City, dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo will be transferred to the Pasig City Jail female dormitory. This is associated with the qualified human trafficking case.

Based on the four-page order from the Pasig RTC Branch 167 presiding judge Annielyn Cabelis, there’s probable cause to hold Guo and her co-accused.

The co-accused are Huang Zhiyang, Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon, Zhang Ruijin, Baoying Lin, Yu Zheng Can, Dennis Lacson Cunanan, Jamielyn Santos Cruz, Roderick Paul Bernardo Pujante, Juan Miguel Alpas, Merlie Joy Manalo Castro, Rita Sapnu Yturralde, Rowena Gonzales Evangelista, Thelma Barrogo Laranan, Maybelline Requiro Millo (a.k.a. Shana Yiyi) and Walter Wong Long.

They are also charged with violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act and the accused are accordingly not entitled to post bail as the charges are non-bailable. The pre-trial of Guo and Long, who is currently detained at the Tarlac Provincial Jail, will be on September 27 through a video conference.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing at Camp Crame that they have received the order and will obey as stated. Whenever Guo will have a hearing at the Senate or the House of Representatives, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology will be supervising her once transferred to the city jail.

To recall, Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 109 ordered the arrest of Guo for allegedly violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. She also faces other complaints such as money laundering and deportation charges from the Bureau of Immigration.

Guo left the country on July 18 amid the investigation regarding her alleged link to the operations of illegal Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs). She was arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia on September 4.
