Rumor has it that Sylvia Sanchez will enter politics
Actor-politician Arjo Atayde reacted to the rumors that his mom veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez will enter politics.
Arjo ventured into politics in 2022. He became the representative for Quezon City’s 1st district. His political career is well-supported by his family, including his wife Phenomenal Star Maine Mendoza.
A recent rumor surfaced that Sylvia will take over Arjo’s position next elections. In a recent interview during the early Christmas party that actor-politician organized for the members of the entertainment media and vloggers, he reacted to this rumor.
Arjo Atayde directly denied that his mom Sylvia Sanchez will run next elections. “It’s not true that my mom is running for the Congress sa (2025),” he said.
Arjo also said that he would continue his public service for the next term if he gets elected once again. He mentioned that he still wants to do more projects for his constituents.
Meanwhile, Arjo is thankful that although he is a public servant now, he is still able to do projects in showbiz. Just recently, Arjo received an international award as he received the Best Lead Actor at the Content Asia Awards 2024 for his crime-thriller series Cattleya Killer.
Arjo said that he felt blessed to be chosen to receive this award. He personally received the award during the awarding ceremony in Taipei, Taiwan last September 5.
The actor said that none of them were expecting this recognition. For him, being nominated is already a big honor. “The recognition itself would be a bonus, like we always say. It’s not being humble but it’s really trying to push Filipino content, trying to push Filipino connections,” he said.
Prior to this recognition, Arjo Atayde received the Best Actor in a Leading Role in the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards for the movie Bagman.
