ALICE GUO – Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo got emotional meeting sister Shiela Guo.
Alice Leal Guo, former Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, won the position during the 2022 national elections. She gained nationwide attention after being linked to Senate investigations into Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) and the alleged surge of illegal immigrants.
Her name has since become a frequent subject of online memes. The Ombudsman has dismissed her from office.
Recently, a video shared by GMA News showed Guo, wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet, arriving at the Senate. The footage, circulated by Senator Risa Hontiveros’ office, confirmed Guo’s presence in the Senate.
Last Friday, Sen. Risa had shared a court document allowing Guo to attend the hearings. The former mayor had been arrested in Jakarta, Indonesia, before being returned to the Philippines by authorities.
Photos of Alice Guo embracing her “sister” Sheila Guo during the Senate hearing went viral, showcasing the two women’s emotional support for each other. This was Alice’s first appearance at the hearings since her return to the Philippines, where she responded to questions from senators, with Sen. Risa Hontiveros chairing the committee.
While in the Senate, Guo faced criticism from senators for fleeing the country and for her responses during the proceedings. Senators Joel Villanueva and Jinggoy Estrada were among those who reprimanded her.
In a previous article, Guo denied that she is Guo Hua Ping despite their matching fingerprints. The NBI also claimed that the controversial politician used a doppelganger or lookalike to avoid authorities.
