Former Mayor Alice Guo Attends Senate Hearing
ALICE GUO – The former Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac arrived at the Senate wearing a yellow shirt and bulletproof vest.
Following the arrest of former Mayor Alice Guo in Indonesia, the former Mayor is now under the custody of the Philippine authorities. She is detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) custodial center.
Guo’s detention facility is the same room occupied by former senator Leila de Lima when she was detained for 7 years. According to the Philippine National Police, it is a simple bedroom with a bed, a comfort room of its own, a table, and a ceiling fan.
The PNP assured that there will be no special treatment for the former Mayor. Previously, she claimed to the authorities that there are death threats against her life.
According to former Mayor Alice Guo, she is happy and she felt safe when she saw the Philippine authorities because of the alleged death threats against her. She also claimed to the authorities that she sent surrender feelers prior to her arrest in Indonesia.
Graft and corruption charges were filed against the former Mayor in Tarlac. According to the authorities, while she has yet to post a bail on the charges against her, she will remain under the custody of the PNP.
Furthermore, the authorities said that she can only be sent to the Senate after posting a bail. Meanwhile, the Court allowed the former Mayor to attend the hearing set by the upper chamber today.
Based on the recent posts of Senator Risa Hontiveros, Alice Guo is wearing a yellow shirt and a bulletproof vest to the Senate. She has arrived at the Senate building in Pasay City and the hearing is ongoing now.
Previously, the lawyer of Guo said that the former Mayor may not be able to tell everything at the Senate hearing. He cited that multiple charges were filed against his client.
