Alice Guo Denies She’s Guo Hua Ping Despite Matching Fingerprints

“Ako po si Alice Guo,” says the former mayor during the recent hearing.

ALICE GUO – The dismissed mayor of Bamban denied that she is Guo Hua Ping despite their matching fingerprints.

Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo faced the Senate Committee on Women on Monday, September 9. This is after evading them for over three months. Finally, she was able to face them after her arrest in Indonesia.

She was given to the Philippines with no prisoner swap and during the hearing, people could not help by noticed the annoyance of the senators over her answers believed to be lies.

Last June, it was confirmed that Alice and Guo Hua Ping’s fingerprints matched and Guo Hua Ping is a Chinese passport-holder.

The citizenship of Guo was in limbo and in the recent hearing she denied that she is the said Chinese citizens. She insisted that she is a Filipino during a Senate panel’s hearing. Senator Risa Hontiveros, the chair of the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, asked her and what she repeatedly answered was, “Ako po si Alice Guo.”

She has no recollection of signing the documents showing her fingerprints. Alice also insisted that she was born in Tarlac and not in China and that her father is Guo Jian Zhong but denied that her mother is Lin Wen Yi, a Chinese passport holder.

“Pasensya na po kung hindi kayo naniniwala,” Guo told senators.

Guo is the subject of multiple complaints. One of these was filed with a Tarlac court ordering her arrest for her alleged connections to the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban. Apart from this, she is also facing graft, money laundering, and human trafficking complaints.

Senators, in the recent hearing, were met with refusal to answer. Hontiveros moved to cite Guo in contempt, the second one which was seconded by Sen. Joel Villanueva, “for testifying falsely and evasively before this committee”.

Hontiveros added, “You will remain in the custody of the Senate until the conclusion of this committee’s inquiry or until you finally recognize the authority of this body and grant even a semblance of respect for the laws of this country.”
