Alice Guo Back in PH, PNP Speaks on Detention Rules & Facilities
PNP – The Philippine National Police assured that there will be no special treatment for former Mayor Alice Guo who is now back in the Philippines.
The Philippine authorities were able to fly former Mayor Alice Guo back home in the Philippines. Guo was arrested by the authorities in Indonesia and turned over to the Philippine officials. She is faced with several complaints back in the country.
Alice Guo is accused of involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations in Tarlac. There are also questions about her identity and she is accused of lying to be a Filipino after her fingerprints matched with the fingerprints of Chinese national Guo Hua Ping.
Guo Hua Ping is a Chinese national who entered the country in 2003. The departure of the former Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac left countless Filipinos disappointed that the authorities failed to locate her and stop her from going overseas.
According to the Bureau of Immigration, Guo left the country without passing by the immigration. Reportedly, she went to Malaysia and then to Singapore and to Indonesia where she was arrested.
Shiela Guo who denied that she and Alice are sisters claimed they left PH through “a small boat”. She also denied involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations.
Alice Guo arrived in the Philippines early Friday. Visibly, Guo is in a happy disposition despite her arrest. She was spotted smiling in several picture-takings and selfies.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Philippine National Police assured that there will be no special treatment for former Mayor Alice Guo. According to the PNP, no cellphone and no AirPods is allowed inside the detention facility in Camp Crame.
Guo arrived in the Philippines through a private hangar in Pasay City. According to PNP spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo, the former Mayor was brought to Camp Crame at 03:06 a.m.
Former Mayor Alice Guo will stay in an ordinary detention room with one (1) bed, an electric fan, and a comfort room as per the PNP. Gadgets are not allowed inside the custodial facility thus, her gadgets will be turned over to her relatives.
“Iniisa-isa ‘yung gamit niya. No cellphone, no AirPods. Bawal ‘yun sa facility,” Fajardo said.
The PNP confirmed that the mugshot of Guo has been taken. Based on the report, they expect the former Mayor to post bail for the graft and corruption cases filed against her before a court in Capas, Tarlac. After a bail was posted, she is set to be turned over to the Senate.
