Boxer Eman Bacosa has this to share about his relationship with Manny Pacquiao, and about being the boxing legend’s son.
Filipino boxer Eman Bacosa recently captured the hearts of many Filipinos after his win in the Thrilla in Manila 2 boxing event, which was graced by his father, Manny Pacquiao, and his wife, Jinkee. Apart from his skills in boxing, his looks also caught attention.
He went viral for his striking resemblance to Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual. Netizens were quick to take notice, dubbing him the ABS-CBN heartthrob
Recently, in an interview with Jessica Soho, the young boxer opened up about a part of his life, particularly about his relationship with his father.
According to him, even as a young boy, he already knew and understood the circumstances surrounding his parents. He knew his father, and he knew about the situation. He understood that he had a family before them, and with all these things happening, he did not ask further.
He grew up without a father, but remained proud. He shared, “Sobrang saya ko po, nabubusog po ‘yung puso ko. Sabi ko thank you Lord sa lahat ng pwede kong maging ama, siya pa talaga. Lagi ko po pinagyayabang sa classmate ko na uy tingnan niyo si daddy Manny Pacquiao.”
It was in 2022 when he reunited with Manny, which was a decade after. Their reunion was an emotional encounter, and at that moment, he also expressed his desire to pursue boxing.
His father advised him to pursue education and was even willing to send him to the US to receive the best education; however, he was persistent. He really wanted to do boxing, and that was when Manny offered him to carry his last name to help him rise in his chosen career.
According to him, his father is supportive of his boxing career, and he is his mentor.
“Tapos pinirmahan niya ‘yung [papeles] ko, ‘Nak gawin kitang Pacquiao para mabilis pag-angat mo sa boxing.’ Parang bumawi po siya sa akin. Sabi ko hala, thank you Lord. Pumasok po ako ng kwarto. Dun po ako umiyak. Sabi ko, thank you Lord,” he shared.
They already had a moment together and talked things out. His father apologized to him, and he accepted it. What matters to him is that they are finally together.
