Organizers Deny Ferdinand Dela Merced’s Participation in National Tour
FERDINAND DELA MERCED – The Loop Adventure Tour has spoken—Ferdinand Dela Merced was never an official participant, contrary to what many followers believed.
The Philippine Loop Adventure Tour organizers have issued an official statement clarifying that Ferdinand Dela Merced is not an officially recognized participant in their national walking event.
According to the committee, Dela Merced’s application was rejected due to health and documentation issues. They explained that he suffers from hypertension and failed to provide a required medical certificate confirming he was physically fit to take part in the demanding multi-month expedition.

The Loop Adventure Tour, which spans several months and covers routes across the country, subjects participants to long walks, unpredictable weather, and high-altitude terrains. Because of these challenges, the organizers stressed that medical clearance and strong physical condition are essential for anyone joining the tour.
In their statement, the committee said the decision was made purely out of concern for the safety and welfare of everyone involved. They also reiterated that the event’s purpose is to foster friendship, respect, camaraderie, and tourism among adventurers.
Reaffirming their commitment to safety, the organizers thanked all registered participants and supporters who continue to follow the event’s policies and uphold its values.
Meanwhile, Ferdinand Dela Merced remains embroiled in controversy in Negros Oriental after posting a series of social media comments that criticized the province and its officials. Reports suggest that the local government is considering declaring him persona non grata over his remarks.

The issue arose when Dela Merced, who is undertaking his independent “Walk Towards Guinness World Records” challenge, took to social media to complain that the Provincial Tourism Office did not acknowledge his arrival. He later explained that his visit coincided with November 1, 2025, a public holiday, which is why offices were closed.
As discussions intensify online, the Loop Adventure Tour organizers’ clarification seeks to draw a clear line between their official event and Dela Merced’s personal venture, reinforcing their commitment to responsible and safe adventure tourism in the Philippines.
