The students, who live on Isla Pugad, were forced to brave through strong river currents after classes were abruptly canceled due to a storm.
Karen Lanoy Santos, the mother of a Grade 10 student on the boat, shared that the children were already at school when the announcement to cancel classes was made. With no choice but to return home, they had to brave the worsening weather conditions.
Despite the challenging situation, all 50 students on the boat safely made it back to their island homes. A video captured by one of the Grade 10 students shows the strong waves crashing against the boat as they cross the river.
