Imee Marcos highlighted her strong friendship with VP Sara Duterte

Senator Imee Marcos asserted that the endorsement she got from Vice President Sara Duterte is not a “reward.”

Imee is seeking reelection in the 2025 elections. It is known to many people that Sen. Imee and VP Sara have been friends for a long time now. Their friendship was put to the test because of the Vice President’s conflict with President Bongbong Marcos, Sen. Imee’s younger brother.

Just recently, Sen. Imee’s political advertisement was released, and this featured VP Sara. The political ad highlights the campaign slogan of Sen. Imee Marcos, which is ITIM or “Ilaban ang Tama, Itama ang Mali.” Both of them were wearing black. VP Sara said, “Iboto si Sen. Imee,” to show support for her friend.

Sen. Imee Marcos, in an interview on News5, said that it was VP Sara Duterte was the one who chose the color black as the theme of her political campaign because of “pagluluksa” that the country’s situation is currently in.

When asked if this endorsement was a reward because her Senate committee started an investigation regarding former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest, she said that it is not. Sen. Imee was against the arrest and showed support for the former President.

“Ay, hindi ko naisip yun. Hindi rin niya (VP Sara),” the Senator said. Sen. Imee also stressed that even before, she and VP Sara were already having conversations about endorsing her.

“Sabi niya (VP Sara), saka na ako mangangampanya, ayoko nang umikot itong eleksyon na ‘to,” the lawmaker shared what the Vice President said.

However, Sen. Imee said that after VP Sara returned to the Philippines from The Hague, perhaps, she was told by FPRRD to campaign for their allies.

Then. Sen. Imee Marcos mentioned that ever since, she and VP Sara Duterte have been close to each other. “Aminado ako na napahamak ko siya,” the Senator said, adding that there was a time that she was hurt by VP’s words and vice versa.
