Charo Santos recalled this unforgettable moment before making a name in showbiz
Seasoned actress Charo Santos shared that this happened to her when she first came to ABS-CBN.
Charo is one of the icons in the entertainment industry with the amazing projects she has done over the years. She is also known to be the host of the iconic drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya.
Previously, she shared the inspiration behind MMK. Charo said that the show’s concept came from a simple paper clip. From that, the drama anthology was born, which shared inspiring stories of people from different walks of life.

In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Charo Santos recalled the years when she was just a little girl from Calapan, Mindoro. She was fond of listening to radio drama on her Avegon transistor and waiting at the store for the latest issue of Liwayway and other “komiks.”
A time came when she had the chance to spend a vacation in Manila. “Kapag nagbabakasyon po kami dito sa Maynila, I attempted to enter the gates of ABS-CBN para makapanood ng Oras ng Ligaya at D’ Sensations,” the actress said.
However, her desire to enter the building did not happen. “Hindi po ako pinapasok ng guard.
When her family settled in Manila, her fangirling became intense. She would do anything to watch the movies of her favorite stars, the late Fernando Poe, Jr., Nora Aunor, Tirso Cruz III, and others.

Just like many Filipinos, Charo said that she was also a “dakilang fan.” “Before I went to filmmaking, I was a member of the audience,” she said.
Charo Santos eventually turned into a star. Her first movie was Itim, which was released in 1976, and this was the start of her career in the entertainment industry. Two years after that, she won the Best Actress award at the Asian Film Festival.
“Buong buhay ko po, naging bahagi na ako ng pelikulang Pilipino,” the veteran actress said.
