Woman Shot Inside Emergency Room of Hospital in Dasmariñas

A woman was killed and three others were injured, including a security guard, after a shooting at a hospital in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

On early Wednesday morning (August 28, 2024), the alleged gunman was seen leaving the hospital’s waiting area around 3 a.m based on the photos shared by the Dasmariñas City Police. The photos also showed a lookout waiting just minutes before the shooting.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Julius Balano, head of the Dasmariñas City Police, reported that the gunman targeted the woman in a hospital ward.

Two accomplices waited outside the hospital by the exit, taking advantage of a moment when no one was guarding the area. They quickly entered, committed the crime, and then escaped.

The suspects fled on two motorcycles, with the gunman riding with a driver and another suspect operating a separate motorbike.

The police confirmed that three people were injured in the attack, including the hospital’s security guard. One of the injured was a companion of the victim, who was hit by a ricochet in the leg, another was a guard who sustained a hand injury, and the third was a companion of a different patient who was struck in the foot.

All the injured individuals have since been discharged from the hospital.

Authorities are also investigating a possible motive related to the victim’s past as a police informant. The woman had been receiving treatment at the hospital following another shooting incident in Dasmariñas on August 22.

A suspect was arrested around 10 a.m. on Wednesday with the help of local barangay officials and CCTV footage. The suspect admitted involvement in the crime and named his accomplices. He has been charged with murder and is facing additional charges for frustrated murder.

Security at the hospital has been tightened following the incident, and police are actively searching for the two remaining suspects. Efforts are ongoing to obtain statements from the hospital administration and local government officials regarding the situation.
