Recently, Bianca Tan, a Facebook user, shared her frustration after a motorcycle taxi rider refused to accept her payment via debit card. The post quickly circulated online and elicited comments from netizens.
The story began when the lady passenger tried to pay their fare with a debit card, only to be told by the driver that it wasn’t accepted. The commuter was frustrated and took to an online community to express their disappointment.
In the post, Tan complained about what she described as the driver’s lack of knowledge. According to the passenger, she had booked a ride through a service called Move It, which supposedly accepts debit card payments.
However, when she tried to pay with their BDO debit card, the driver refused to accept it, claiming it wasn’t an option. The passenger’s post criticized the driver’s apparent unfamiliarity with debit cards and pointed out that the app clearly stated cards were accepted.
The female commuter suggested that the driver might not be familiar with modern payment methods, leading them to mock the situation humorously.
Following the backlash, the passenger issued a follow-up statement clarifying her position. They emphasized that their frustration was not directed at Visayan people in general but specifically at the driver who seemed to struggle with using a debit card.
The passenger reiterated that the app confirmed card payments were acceptable and expressed amusement over the driver’s reaction.
