Man Swept by Massive Flooding in Montalban, Rizal
FLOODING INCIDENT – A man was caught on camera after being swept away by the flood in Montalban Heights San Jose in Rizal.
On Wednesday morning, (July 24, 2024), the combined effects of Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon brought heavy rains, which caused severe flooding in Montalban Heights, San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal.
Recently, Ericson Estrera, a Facebook user, shared a video of a man being swept away by the floodwaters. The video quickly went viral and garnered various reactions from the online community.
In the video, the man, who is seen wearing a helmet, struggles to stay afloat as the powerful flood currents carry him along. The video shows the severity of the flooding in Montalban Heights, where many areas are submerged under water.
The strong current of the flood is so intense that it sweeps the man off his feet, making rescue efforts all the more urgent. The Montalban residents helped the man but are still facing huge challenges due to the flooding.
Many areas are completely underwater, and local residents are desperately seeking evacuation and rescue. With the local government units not responding promptly, people have turned to social media to call for help and raise awareness about their situation.
Earlier, PAGASA had issued a red rainfall warning for the region, indicating severe flooding in low-lying areas. Metro Manila and surrounding areas were affected by the massive flooding.
The Marikina River’s water level reached 16 meters early in the morning, prompting evacuation orders for nearby residents. The water level was closely monitored, with further evacuations planned if it reached 18 meters.
