PAGASA Says Carina and Habagat to Bring Rains Over Parts of the Country

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Severe Tropical Storm Carina and habagat will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (July 22, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Severe Tropical Storm Carina and the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 was raised over parts of Cagayan and Isabela due to the expected effects of Severe Tropical Storm Carina.

“Carina is forecast to steadily intensify over the next four days due to a favorable environment,” the weather agency said.

Carina was last spotted 420 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan packing maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 125 kph. It moving north-northwestward slowly.

Severe Tropical Storm Carina will also enhance the Southwest Monsoon, which will bring moderate to intense rainfall over several areas in the western part of Luzon starting tonight until Wednesday.

Habagat will bring gusty winds over MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, and the northern portion of Samar.

Gale-force gusts are expected over Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Visayas on Tuesday (July 23). Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Visayas will experience similar weather conditions on Wednesday (July 24).

Carina is expected to leave the Philippine area of Responsibility on Wednesday (July 24) evening or Thursday early morning (July 25).

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough.

The Central and Southern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao will have moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
