Female Barefoot Runner Wins Silver Medal in Palarong Pambansa 2024
REGION 8 – A female barefoot runner has won a silver medal in the 3,000m (Secondary) event at Palarong Pambansa 2024.
Filipino athletes have always shown incredible talent, determination, and heart in their sports. However, many athletes were experiencing a lack of support. The issue affects their training, performance, and overall potential to shine on the world stage.
Unfortunately, many Filipino athletes do not have access to modern and well-maintained sports centers. Without these essential resources, it becomes difficult for them to train effectively and reach their full potential.
The lack of proper facilities puts them at a disadvantage compared to athletes from other countries who train in state-of-the-art environments.
Recently, the Facebook page “K5 News FM Negros Occidental” shared photos of a female barefoot runner who wins a silver medal in a competition. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
On Thursday (July 11, 2024), at the Palarong Pambansa 2024, a young runner from Region 8 captured the hearts of many after bagging the silver medal in the 3,000-meter race for secondary girls.
Chrishia Mae Tajarros, a 13-year-old Grade 7 student, ran barefoot and showed incredible determination and talent.
The barefoot athlete competed against runners from various regions and appeared as the silver medalist, an achievement for someone running without shoes. The gold medal went to a runner from Region 7, while the bronze was claimed by an athlete from Davao Region.
Running barefoot might seem unusual to many, but for Chrishia, it was proof of her love and passion for the sport. Despite the challenges, she remained focused and determined to give her best performance.
Her achievement is even more impressive when you think about how young she is and how she competed against other girls her age from all over the Philippines.
