The tomb of Rico Yan has become a part of the latest trend and here’s the two cents of Jessy Mendiola about it.
ABS-CBN actress Jessy Mendiola has this to say about the trend where people visit the tomb of Rico Yan as if it was a “tourist spot”.
Let the late matinée idol rest, you guys. This is what actress Jessy Mendiola stressed in one of her recent posts. This is after many people online made visiting the grave of late actor Rico Yan appear like they are visiting a tourist spot.
Flocking to the grave of the late ’90s heartthrob became a new trend in TikTok. From what started to be as paying homage to the beloved actor, it has turned into a full-blown online trend with some netizens calling his resting place as a “new tourist destination”.
Why are people doing this now? It’s been already 22 years since Rico died and this could be because of the resurgence of his work online. Many clips of him from the projects he made before are currently circulating and making round on various social media platforms.
This craze prompted the new generation to discover his undeniable charm. To many girls out there, he was this ultimate boy next door we would want our moms to meet. From one viral video, it was followed by more and the succeeding ones were seemingly staged and done just for laughs and actress Jessy Mendiola did not like this part.
For her, it’s disturbing to see that they are not letting him rest and the gesture showed lack of respect to the late actor and his family. She quipped, “Susme. Lahat na lang ba para sa likes, followers, and views.”
She even added that this lacks decency.
