Traffic Enforcer Dies After Being Run Over by Bus Driver He Apprehended Over Traffic Violation
A traffic enforcer tragically lost his life after being run over by a bus driver he had stopped in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
On Wednesday (July 3, 2024), a bus driver allegedly rammed the traffic enforcer who apprehended him due to a reported traffic violation. The tragic incident garnered various reactions from the online community.
The traffic enforcer, identified as Alfredo Datoon, had flagged down the bus driver for violating traffic rules, specifically the prohibition on picking up and dropping off passengers in restricted areas or the “no loading” policy in the area.
Instead of complying, the bus driver attempted to flee the scene, dragging Alfredo with the vehicle. Despite the driver’s efforts to escape, he was apprehended after a chase by the authorities.
The bus driver, known by the alias “Rollie,” was identified as a resident of Brgy. Galicia 2, Mendez, Cavite, and was driving an Erjhon & Almark bus with the license plate UMN 117.
Following the incident, Rollie was arrested and is now facing murder charges. He is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Dasmariñas City Police.
The members of the Dasmariñas City Traffic Management Unit expressed their sorrow and anger over the loss of their colleague. Alvin Vio, a fellow traffic enforcer, expressed his grief regarding the incident.
“Wala naman siyang ginawang mali. Ginagawa niya lang trabaho namin. Bakit ginanyan niya na parang aso lang yung kasamahan namin. May mga naiwan siyang mga anak na maliliit pa lang. Paano na lang yung pamilyang naiwan niya?” Vio said.
The team is mourning the loss of a dedicated member who was merely fulfilling his duties when he was senselessly killed.
