Cops Arrest Security Guard Getting Police Clearance
A security guard was arrested in Manila when he tried to get a police clearance for having an ongoing case in Isabela province.
A police clearance, also known as a police clearance certificate or a police record check, is an official document issued by a police department or government agency. It certifies that an individual has no criminal record or lists any criminal convictions they may have.
Many employers require a police clearance to ensure that potential employees have no criminal background, which is important for jobs in security, finance, education, and healthcare. It helps companies reduce the risk of theft, fraud, or other criminal activities in the workplace.
The certificate also includes personal details of the applicant such as name, date of birth, and address.
Recently, the Manila Police District (MPD) arrested a man inside the police station when he was trying to get a police clearance for his job. The incident reportedly took place in Sta. Ana, Manila.
The police authorities found out he had an arrest warrant in Isabela upon checking the police database. The case was about breaking the law on guns and bullets.
The investigation showed that the guard was first arrested in 2013. He had taken out his work gun in a club in Isabela. The man said he paid bail back then and didn’t go to court hearings because he thought his case was over.
He was surprised that he could still get police clearances before, even with his case. The MPD explained that now, a National Police Clearance is needed. This is different from the old local police clearances.
The accused is now being held by the Sta. Ana police while they wait for the court’s order. His family is trying to raise P120,000 for his bail.
