Eric Quizon shared his journey in showbiz

Actor-director Eric Quizon shared how he deals with artists who lack acting skills or “bob*ng artista.”

Eric came from a prominent showbiz clan. He is the son of the late Comedy King Dolphy. With his years in the entertainment industry, Eric was able to work with different actors and actresses. He also ventured into directing.

In a recent interview with PEP, Eric shared that he was lucky to work with the best when he was just starting his career in showbiz. He said that was the golden years of cinema. For him, he was the one who lacked the needed skills and so he pursued attending workshops to improve his acting skills.

Eric Quizon admitted that when he first saw himself onscreen, he declared, “Ang pangit kong umarte!” He spent for his workshop because he wanted to improve and he did not want to be in a shameful situation because of his acting.

When it comes to being a director, he was asked how he handles with an actor or an actress cannot deliver needed emotion. In dealing with “bob*ng artista,” Eric said that he always make sure the capacity of an artist. Then, he will squeeze out whatever he can get from the artist but if that was only what one can give he can’t force more than that.

He also said that he does not believe in doing unnecessary or “rude” things to the artist just to get the needed emotion in a scene.

“Pero hindi kita pipilitin, or hindi kita aabusuhin. Hindi kita papagalitan. Hindi kita mumurahin para ma-achieve lang yung gusto ko. No. I’m not the type of director,” he stressed.

Eric Quizon dreamt of becoming a psychiatrist but his path led him to show business. He said that he has no regrets that his first dream did not come true. For him, he is still playing the role of a guidance counselor to his family, friends, and colleagues.
