Eric Quizon Speaks on Late Comedy King Dolphy
ERIC QUIZON – The actor-director revealed the advantage and the disadvantage of being a son of the late Comedy King Dolphy.
In the Philippine showbiz industry, one of the most popular celebrities is the late Comedy King Dolphy. Undeniably, it may take a lifetime or never before one could level to the record of the late Comedy King who spent more than half of his life in the industry. He was only 19 years old when he worked on his first movie with the late Fernando Poe Sr.
It is no secret to the public that Dolphy has a lot of children. On records, he has at least 17 children with six (6) different women. Some of them are also actors and actresses in the Philippine showbiz industry,
One of the children of Dolphy who is also in showbiz is actor Eric Quizon. He is the 10th son of the late Comedy King. He is not only into acting but as well as in writing and directing.
In 2012, Dolphy died after several years of battle against the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He suffered from multiple organ failure just 15 days before his 84th birthday.
Dolphy was survived by his partner, Divine Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla, and his children. Eric Quizon was the family’s spokesperson amid the death of Dolphy — and even prior to it. In interview with Aster Amoyo, he revealed that his being the family’s spokesperson started when his younger brother, Vandolph, met an accident in 2001.
According to Eric, the late Comedy King wanted him to be a doctor. It was after paying huge amounts of money to Dolphy’s doctor at that time. He also wanted his son to study in Ateneo which was his dream school back then.
Eric Quizon was able to finish his pre-med. However, fate led him to showbiz and it was also through his father that he started doing projects. When asked about the advantage and disadvantage of being the son of Dolphy, the actor-director did not step back from the question.
According to Eric, the advantage was that everything was always prepared for him as well as his siblings being the children of Dolphy. However, on the other side, he believes that he always live with the big name of his father that no matter what he will do, he will still be most known for as the son of the late Comedy King.
Meanwhile, Eric Quizon clarified that it was not really a disadvantage for him. He is assertive of his gratitude about being the son of Dolphy and he want his as his father again given a chance to pick.
