Elderly Man Dies in Robbery Incident

ROBBERY INCIDENT – An elderly man reportedly lost his life after being robbed and beaten in San Jose del Monte.

The police investigation reported that a 71-year-old man lost his life in a robbery incident. The elderly victim was walking when he was forcibly taken into an AUV (Asian Utility Vehicle) by the suspects.

San Jose Del Monte Police Station investigator Police Corporal Ryand Paul Antimaro explained that the vehicle was driving against traffic and hit a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver saw the car door suddenly open and noticed an old man being beaten inside.

“Nag-counterflow po itong sasakyan, meron silang nabanggang motorsiklo, tapos nakita nung driver ng motorsiklo — bigla po kasing bumukas yung sasakyan — nakita nila na may binubugbog sa loob na isang matanda,” Antimaro said.

The AUV continued driving for several meters until the victim managed to escape. He sought help from a subdivision guard, who then called the police. Although the victim was rushed to the hospital, he unfortunately passed away later.

The driver of the AUV was arrested, while his accomplices initially escaped. However, the police later caught the other suspects; four women and one man, after the arrested driver identified them.

The authorities recovered the stolen items, including P21,000 in cash and various pieces of jewelry worth P320,000 pesos. They also found a gun and a homemade firearm loaded with bullets.

“Lumalabas sa imbestigasyon namin na itong biktima ay nagtubos ng mga alahas sa isang pawnshop kaya siguro natiktikan nitong mga suspek natin.” Antimaro explained a possible motive.

The police are still searching for two more suspects. According to the authorities, the suspects are part of a group known for robbing and beating their victims. They reportedly victimized a retired police officer just this February.

The suspects denied the accusations. They will face charges of robbery with homicide, while the two male suspects will have additional charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
