Alfred Vargas Speaks on Issue Against FAMAS

Alfred Vargas who won Best Actor in the recent 72nd FAMAS Awards reacted to the allegations that the award-giving body sells its awards and trophies.

In the Philippines, one of the most popular film award-giving bodies is the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards or more popularly called FAMAS. It is giving out awards and trophies for decades now.

Recently, the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards held its 72nd FAMAS Awards which is another star-studded events in the book. One of those who won an award is actor Alfred Vargas.

Alfred was nominated for the Best Actor award for his portrayal of his role in the film Pieta. Piolo Pascual was also awarded as FAMAS Best Actor at the event for his portrayal of his roles in Mallari.

Other nominees for Best Actor in the 72nd FAMAS Awards were Dingdong Dantes for Rewind, Cedrick Juan for GomBurZa, Ken Chan for Papa Mascot, and Alden Richards for Family of Two.

However, even before the recent FAMAS Awards event and the FAMAS-Eva Darren issue, the film award-giving body is already surrounded by allegations that its awards and trophies come with a price. To this, Alfred Vargas recently gave his reaction.

Based on an article on Pep, at a thanksgiving celebration and fellowship held at Supersam Restaurant in Quezon City, Alfred Vargas debunked the allegations. He also spoke a challenge to watch the film Pieta to really know it.

“Una, hindi po totoo yun. Tapos pangalawa, sa lahat po ng mga nakapanood ng Pieta, malalaman nila. So, manood sila ng Pieta,” the actor said.

Based on the article, Alfred Vargas stressed that the trophy is heavy and he worked hard for every inch and gram of it so he is really proud of his FAMAS Best Actor award. Here are the other winners in the recently-held awards night:
