PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Today (May 29)

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Aghon is set to leave PAR this morning or afternoon.

On Wednesday (May 29, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Aghon will continue to affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that Typhoon Aghon is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday morning or afternoon. The weather disturbance will maintain its strength as it accelerates northeastward.

“Posible ngayong umaga o mamayang tanghali ay lalabas na ng PAR base sa ating forecast track,” said Badrina.

Aghon was last spotted 870 kilometers east-northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It is moving at a speed of 40 kph.

The southwesterly windflow will bring moderate to heavy rains over the western portions of Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and MIMAROPA after being partly affected by Aghon.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, and Rizal will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwesterly wind flow.

Batanes, Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, northern Aurora, southern mainland Quezon, Polillo Islands, Palawan, Lubang Islands, Romblon, Marinduque, and Camarines Norte will have gusty conditions over the next three days.

The frontal system will bring similar weather conditions over the Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

“Ito na rin ‘yung posibleng pagsisimula na rin ng panahon ng habagat, o southwest monsoon,” Badrina added.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the seaboards of Luzon will be moderate to rough. No gale warning was raised in any seaboards of the country, according to PAGASA.
