Veteran Actress Divina Valencia Gives Side on Eva Darren FAMAS Issue that Stirred Countless Reactions
On Eva Darren FAMAS issue, veteran actress Divina Valencia slammed the reason of the film award body claiming it didn’t see the actress.
In the Philippine showbiz industry, one of the biggest and most prestigious award-giving bodies is the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards or more popularly called FAMAS. It holds an annual awards night wherein it gives out recognitions to deserving personalities in the different fields in the entertainment industry for an excellent work.
The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards recently held the FAMAS Awards 2024 on Sunday at The Manila Hotel. Among the winners were Kathryn Bernardo who was awarded as the FAMAS Best Actress for her film A Very Good Girl and Piolo Pascual who won FAMAS Best Actor for Mallari.
However, countless people were undeniably disappointed with the award-giving body for the Eva Darren issue. The son of veteran actress Eva Darren, Dr. Fernando de la Pena, aired out on social media how his mother was so excited to be a presenter only to end up waiting for nothing at the event.
According to the son of the veteran actress, Eva Darren usually does not attend social events but not when FAMAS invited her to be a presenter. She was even sent a script which she memorized. She also bought the best dress and the pair of heels she could afford as she really prepared for the event.
At the event, Ms. Eva Darren also brought her three (3) grandchildren who were also excited to see their grandma on stage. She paid Php 5,000 per plate for four people. However, the night ended with the veteran actress never going on the stage.
Amid the trending post, FAMAS apologized claiming that they were not able to see the veteran actress at the venue so they looked for someone to replace her as the presenter. To this, veteran actress Divina Valencia who was seated beside Ms. Eva Darren reacted and slammed the film award-giving body’s reason.
“Napakalaking katarantaduhan,” veteran actress Divina Valencia said on the reason of FAMAS for replacing the actress as presenter.
According to Ms. Divina, she could not accept the reason of FAMAS as Ms. Eva was one of the early birds at the event. She stressed that she was with her four (4) grandchildren who hope to see the veteran actress go up the stage with Mr. Tirso Cruz.
Ms. Divina Valencia slammed the move of FAMAS to allegedly just make a reason after hurting Ms. Eva Darren as well as her grandchildren. She tagged the excuse of the film award-giving body as “so narrow”.
“Nakaupo kami sa Table 10, halos kaharap namin ang stage. Magkatabi kmi [kami] ni Ms Eva Darren and Marissa Delgado,” the veteran actress stated as per the article.
Furthermore, on the Eva Darren FAMAS issue, Divina Valencia reacted to the award-giving body’s reason that they cannot locate the veteran actress. According to her, all the stars who came at the event have names on their seats.
Ms. Divina Valencia was one of the FAMAS awardees at the event. She was one of those who were given the Iconic Movie Actress of Philippine Cinema award. Ms. Eva Darren was awarded as Best Supporting Actress in the 18th FAMAS in 1970 for her excellent portrayal of her role in the 1969 film Ang Pulubi. The camp of the replacement of Eva Darren in the FAMAS 2024 issue also spoke.
