PAGASA Says Typhoon Aghon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Aghon will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Monday (May 27, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Aghon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Aghon intensified as it continued to move north-northeast over part of northern Luzon.

Aghon was last spotted 90 kilometers east-southeast of Baler, Aurora. It has a maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and a gustiness of up to 160 kph.

The weather agency raises tropical storm signals in various areas:

  • Aurora and the northern portion of Quezon (Infanta, General Nakar) including Polillo Islands

Signal No. 1

  • The eastern portion of Isabela
  • The eastern portion of Quirino
  • The eastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya
  • The eastern portion of Nueva Ecija
  • Bulacan,
  • Metro Manila,
  • Rizal,
  • Cavite,
  • Laguna,
  • Central portion of Quezon
  • Camarines Norte, and
  • Northwestern portion of Camarines Sur

The typhoon is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday afternoon or evening (May 29, 2024).

The weather agency has raised a gale warning over the coastal waters of Aurora, Quezon, and Marinduque; the southern coastal waters of Batangas; and the northern coastal waters of Camarines Norte.

On the other hand, 28 areas are expected to reach “dangerous” level peak heat indices of or above 42ºC.
