Batangas Governor’s Wife Speaks on Having Children

BATANGAS GOVERNOR’S WIFE – Attorney Angelica Chua-Mandanas revealed that she initially does not want to have a child.

Last May 9, 2024, Batangas Gov. Hermilando “Dodo” Mandanas married a lawyer, Atty. Angelica Chua-Mandanas, who is 48 years younger than him. Undeniably, it surprised a lot of people most especially those who are not from the province.

It was a church wedding for the Governor and the 32-year-old lawyer who is a partner in a law firm. After the wedding ceremony which was livestreamed for the constituents of the Governor, the reception was held in front of the provincial capitol.

Undeniably, the wedding of the Governor and his now wife earned different reactions from the public. There are those who are happy for the couple while there are also those who have negative reactions about their union considering their age gap.

Meanwhile, visibly, Gov. Dodo Mandanas and Attorney Angelica are not allowing the negative reaction of other people to affect their lives. In his vow, the Govenor who is a religious man acknowledged that the purpose of their marriage is to raise good Christians out of the children that God will bless them.

During an interview with ABS-CBN News, the Batangas Governor’s wife revealed that she initially did not want to have children. According to Attorney Angelica Chua-Mandanas, she does not want to work for the purpose of raising a child.

“For the longest time ayoko magkaroon ng anak. Gusto ko mag-alaga ng pamangkin pero ayoko ng anak.Ayoko ko nang magtrabaho para magpa-aral, hindi ko nga nabibili lahat ng gusto ko para sa sarili ko, a typical millennial thing,” she said.

The Governor revealed that he also wants someone who will be his partner to attend church every day and pray the rosary which the lawyer also initially think she could not do. According to her, she wants to do it willingly in case and not because of somebody.

Based on the interview, after their conversation about having a child, he told her that they’re done since she does not really want a child but he appealed to think about it again.

“Eventually nakita ko naman, yung mga considerations ko kung bakit ayoko ng anak… Siguro kaya ko ayaw kasi hindi ko naman nakikita na may possible na tao, sabi ko nga even sa vows ko sobrang taas ng standards ko sa lalake pero nung nakita kong pwede naman pala… Baka okay naman ako magkaroon ng anak,” the lawyer shared.

The Governor is vocal that marriage is opening up to the idea of having children. For her case, she is also motherly to the children of her siblings and him passing her standards made her reconsider things about having a child.
