PAGASA Says Easterlies & Frontal System to Affect PH Weather

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported easterlies and the frontal system will bring isolated rains over parts of the country.

On Thursday (May 9, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The easterlies and the frontal system will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that easterlies is expected to bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over parts of the country. The Frontal System will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes and Cagayan.

The Easterlies/Localized Thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and/or thunderstorms over Visayas, Palawan, including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience similar weather condition.

According to the meteorological agency, the heat index in Metro Manila will be at an extreme caution level, with temperatures at the Science Garden in Quezon City reaching 40 degrees Celsius and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) station in Pasay City reaching 42 degrees.

Individuals who are exposed to these heat indices run the risk of developing heat exhaustion, cramps, and, in extreme cases, heat stroke.

Pagasa advised the people to avoid the negative effects of scorching weather by limiting the amount of time spent outside, staying hydrated, avoiding tea, coffee, soda, and alcohol, using heat protective gear when out in the sun, and planning hard labor for later in the day.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern and western sections of Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate coastal waters.

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning in any seaboards of the country.
