Angelu de Leon shared this challenging chapter in her life
Actress and Pasig City Councilor Angelu de Leon shared her experience battling Bell’s palsy.
Angelu started young in the entertainment industry. She was known as one of the 90s teen stars. She has done several projects during the height of her career.
Until now, she is doing some acting projects while doing her responsibility as a councilor of Pasig City.

There was a point in her showbiz career that she had to take a break because of health issues. In a recent Facebook post, Angelu de Leon shared about this.
She suffered from Bell’s palsy, and she admitted that it was not easy, especially since it affected her appearance, which is a crucial aspect of her work as an actress.
Angelu revealed that she went through a severe emotional ordeal due to her condition.
“Sa totoo lang, nagkaroon din ako ng depression dahil sa Bell’s Palsy. Bilang artista, ‘mukha ang puhunan mo.’ Kaya hindi madaling tanggapin kapag biglang nagbago ang mukha mo,” the actress-politician shared.
The actress first experienced Bell’s palsy in 2009, and it recurred in 2016. This condition causes sudden weakness in the muscles on one side of the face. Despite the challenges, she said that she chose to focus on the blessings that have come into her life.

These include having a billboard along EDSA and being part of the Kapuso historical drama series “Pulang Araw,” in which she once again showcased her acting caliber.
Through her experience, she came to realize that a person’s worth is not defined solely by physical appearance.
“Natutunan ko na hindi doon nasusukat ang halaga ko. Maaaring ang mukha ang puhunan sa showbiz, pero ang buhay, pagkatao, at halaga natin ay higit pa sa ating panlabas na anyo,” Angelu de Leon shared.
The actress-politician also reminded the public about the importance of health. “Health is wealth. Huwag nating balewalain ang ating kalusugan. Huwag nating hintaying may mangyari bago natin alagaan ang ating sarili,” she stressed.
