Ping Lacson is determined to continue his expose
Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano faces intense scrutiny after the teams of Senator Ping Lacson uncovered major irregularities in Taguig City, Cayetano’s political stronghold.
The lawmaker has exposed alleged 14.4 billion worth of anomalous infrastructure, flood control, and illegal reclamation projects in Taguig City. This came after his political feud between Lacson and Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, whose family holds a political stronghold over Taguig.
Previously, Cayetano questioned the sudden increase in Lacson’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).
In a recent post on X, formerly Twitter, highlighted, “MALULUNOD SA KATOTOHAHAN.”
Sen. Ping Lacson revealed a “cauldron of worms” featuring fabricated slope protection projects, political harassment tactics, and illegal reclamation of parts of Laguna Lake that he insists must be forfeited to the state.
The Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), which is under the Office of the President, validated these findings during a meeting on Monday evening.
“Aside from the PRA and the Ombudsman, we will closely coordinate with the DPWH central office, LLDA and other concerned agencies not only to jail the crooks behind these grossly anomalous and patently illegal activities but also forfeit the already reclaimed Lakeshore areas in favor of the national government,” Lacson also wrote.
During the recent weekend, based on the report from Manila Bulletin, Lacson presented evidence connecting the former Senate President to unauthorized lakeshore reclamation projects in Taguig.
These developments lacked mandatory permits from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and other required regulatory agencies. Furthermore, the initiatives were illicitly financed using national budget allocations originally designated for slope protection projects.
He noted that resource persons with knowledge of the matter faced harassment and intimidation, particularly during committee hearings. Additionally, Lacson and his team submitted evidence last week to the Office of the Ombudsman, which they collected from at least five case studies involving irregular infrastructure projects in Taguig City.
Sen. Ping Lacson also said that Cayetano effectively commands DPWH operations and infrastructure activities in Taguig City, going so far as to replace district engineers who fail to secure his clearance. Furthermore, the former police chief disclosed that public works projects in the city may be subject to a 33-percent kickback scheme.
