Joey De Leon Clarifies “Hindi namin kaaway ang Showtime”

Joey de Leon stressed that his statement about reaching 15 years was not intended for It’s Showtime

Henyo Master Joey de Leon clarified that the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime is not their enemy.

Joey is one of the pioneer hosts of the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga. He was also the one who coined the iconic title. The show has already aired on different channels throughout its existence.

For more than 40 years, Dabarkads have been sharing laughter and entertainment with Filipino households.

However, despite their success, intrigues and controversies also come their way. Just recently, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, known as TVJ, addressed the issues that they are going through some financial problems. The term used was “nalulugi.” It was also alleged that they will be going off-air soon.

Joey said that those who were saying that were just envious of them. He also had a challenge to those bashers. “Eto na lang hamon ko, umabot lang kayo ng 15 years baka lumuhod ako sa harap nyo,”

Showbiz news outlets picked up this challenge from Joey and concluded that he was saying this to It’s Showtime which is now occupying the noontime slot on GMA-7 which Eat Bulaga previously occupied.

In a recent Instagram reel that Joey shared, he clarified that he is not challenging the Kapamilya noontime show. “Unang-una, hindi namin kaaway ang Showtime,” he said. The Henyo Master also said that the Kapamilya noontime show has long been their neighbor.

Joey pointed out that they are not attacking Showtime and vice versa. He said that his and Tito Sotto’s anger when they spoke on Eat Bulaga was intended for those who are on social media and spreading fake news about their show.

“Kaya hinamon ko ang mga nagpo-post na yun kung tatagal ng 15 years, hindi Showtime,” Joey said. Then, he greeted the Kapamilya noontime show. “Uy, happy anniversary Showtime. 15 years na nga ang Showtime,” he said. The show led by Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda is celebrating their 15th year this 2024.

Joey also said that they love Showtime because only the two of them left in the noontime show category. “Huwag niyo kaming pagsabungin!” the Henyo Master said.
