Teacher Elicits Reactions for Encouraging Students to Value Achievement of High Grades
A teacher elicits comments online for encouraging the students to value the achievement of high or decent grades in school.
In a recent viral Facebook post, a teacher-blogger encourages the students to achieve decent grades in school because these will serve as their foundation in the future when the time comes.
The post brought attention to the general perception among students that passing or receiving a “barely passing” grade is acceptable. Since many people in today’s world believe that “grades don’t define your character and being a person,” they appear comfortable with passing, failing, or even low grades.
The teacher urged students to remember that whatever grade they obtain now will reflect their preparedness to face the real challenges of life in the future.
“Alam mo ba na bumagsak ka pero pinasa ka ng sistema? Ilang beses inadjust ng guro yung grades mo para maisama ka sa mga totoong nagpagod at naghirap para sa grades nila. Ikaw mismo gumawa ng kung anong meron ka ngayon. Tandaan mong ilalarawan ka ng grado mo kung gaano ka na kahanda sa mga totoong hamon sa buhay,” the teacher said.
The teacher-blogger clarified that there was no ill intention behind the post. Their advocacy is to enlighten students about the importance of earning high or deserving passing grades, not just because they were passed out of pity or due to directives from higher authorities.

“Yung goal ko lang po kasi diyan is marealize ng maraming students na pinaghihirapan ang bawat marka kaya wag sana nilang i-take for granted na i-post ang teachers nila sa socmed dahil sa maliit ang grades na binigay,” the educator explained.
The social media users expressed their reactions to the post:
The teacher’s message reminds the students to appreciate the effort put into their education and to strive for excellence.
