PNP Records 8 Deaths During Holy Week Due to Drowning Incidents

On Friday (March 29, 2024), eight individuals, including minors reportedly died in drowning incidents across various parts of the country during the Lenten Season, according to the Philippine National Police.
Based on PNP records, the fatalities were reported from Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Davao, and Caraga regions. Additionally, one person was reported injured in Ilocos.

Among the nine victims, the PNP stated that six were minors. Moreover, the PNP recorded three vehicular accidents during this Holy Week. Two incidents were reported in the Bicol Region, while one occurred in Eastern Visayas.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety, especially during holidays and vacations when people often engage in recreational activities near bodies of water or on long journeys.
