Here’s how close Kim Chiu and Lakam, her sister, used to be.
KIM CHIU AND LAKAM – Before legal steps were taken that created a loud buzz online, the Chiu sisters used to be really close.
From a blind item about Lakam and Kim Chiu, as per the rumors, a clearer picture has finally surfaced. Recently, the actress went before a proper venue to file against her sister, which shocked and saddened many.
Kim filed a qualified theft case against her sister following the discovery of “serious financial inconsistencies” within their business partnership. The ABS-CBN star decided to pursue a legal action after she learned “substantial amounts connected to my business assets were found missing.”
Based on their statement, Chiu’s legal team initially attempted to settle the issue privately, engaging in several discussions before officially filing the complaint. The amount involved and how it disappeared were not disclosed, but based on how things ended up just now, people online could only assume that the “substantial amount” was worth millions.
Chiu sisters’ sisterhood through the years
Kim has always been vocal about how grateful she is to her sister, Lakam. She was always the one beside her to support and guide her ever since she joined the show business. Lakam was not just a sister to her. She was also someone who stood up as a mother for her and their other siblings.
At one point, Lakam was her “number one critic, her number one fan, and superwoman.” They were inseparable. They have three other siblings, Wendolyn, William, and John Paul, whom they are close to as well.
Lakam fell into a coma in 2023. She was rushed to the hospital due to an undisclosed illness and spent the first five days in critical condition. She survived, but during that period, her family had to make a major decision, not knowing if she would make it.
Beside her, all throughout that ordeal was Kim, who exerted all efforts to keep her alive.
“Kung may hihingin man akong regalo sa inyo ngayon yun ay prayers para sa ate Lakam ko. Everything happened in a snap of a finger. She is my strength, and now the word strength becomes blurry. Please pray for her recovery,” Kim said.
For Lakam, she was just as grateful to Kim, whom she described as “one of the greatest blessings” she has ever received in one of her old social media posts.
