Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards donated to underpaid workers in the television and film industry.

Alden is one of the celebrities who makes sure to give back to the community. Behind his success, he never forgets to share his blessings with other people.

Alden established his AR Foundation which focuses on giving financial support to deserving students through his scholarship program. However, prior to this, he was already helping many college students.

Just recently, the Kapuso actor once again had his charitable endeavor as a new Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund) trustee. He was present at the recent event for the marginalized workers of the television and film industry.

Based on the article by Manila Bulletin columnist Giselle Sanchez, Alden Richards donated P100,000 to underpaid workers in the entertainment industry.

The actor said that when this job was offered to him, he did not hesitate to accept because he believes that through this, he would be able to give back to the industry that has been very good to him.

Alden highlighted what veteran actress Boots Anson-Rodrigo that those behind the camera, mostly the underpaid workers, are the unsung heroes and this is the reason why the Mowelfund exists. This made the actor decide immediately to be part of the organization.

When asked what could he do more for Mowelfund, Alden said he wanted to create awareness. “Many actors and industry workers my age need to be aware of the significant benefits Mowelfund provides. They don’t know they can become a member and receive medical cash aid of P8,000 per year and funeral assistance of P35,000 for their immediate family members,” he said.

The actor also said that there are still many people in the industry who are still not aware that educational assistance programs for children, both in cash and kind are also given.

Alden Richards shared that there is also the Mowelfund Film Institute that aims to improve the entertainment industry.
