Through the GSIS Retirement Benefit offer, the state-run social insurance institution wants to help the members prepare for the future. The pursuit of regularly posting monthly contributions may lead to a monthly pension when time comes that a member stops working.
The state-run social insurance institution provides members with different Retirement Programs that they can choose from. Here are the programs and the qualifications under each:
RA 8291 or the GSIS Act of 1997
Eligibility Criteria
- must have rendered at least 15 years of service and must be at least 60 years old upon retirement
- must not be permanent total disability pensioner
Documentary Requirements
- duly-accomplished application form for Retirement/Separation/Life Insurance Benefit
- Service Record with Leave without Pay (LWOP) certification (indicating specific time and dates of LWOP)
- Declaration of Pendency/ Non-Pendency of Case (DPNPC) form (date administered/ notarized should be on or after receipt of notification from GSIS.
Presidential Decree (PD) 1146
Eligibility Criteria
- must have rendered at least 15 years of service and must at least be 60 years old upon retirement
- last 3 years of service prior to retirement must be continuous and your employment status is permanent
Documentary Requirements
- duly-accomplished application form for Retirement/Separation/Life Insurance Benefit
- Service Record with Leave without Pay (LWOP) certification (indicating specific time and dates of LWOP)
- Declaration of Pendency/ Non-Pendency of Case (DPNPC) form (date administered/ notarized should be on or after receipt of notification from GSIS.
RA 1616 or the Take All Benefit
Eligibility Criteria
- must have entered government service before June 1, 1977
- must have rendered at least 20 years of service regardless of age and employment status
- last 3 years of service prior to retirement must be continuous, expect in cases of death, disability, or abolition of position due to reorganization
Documentary Requirements
- duly-accomplished application form for Retirement/Separation/Life Insurance Benefit
- Service Record with Leave without Pay (LWOP) certification (indicating specific time and dates of LWOP)
- Declaration of Pendency/ Non-Pendency of Case (DPNPC) form (date administered/ notarized should be on or after receipt of notification from GSIS.
RA 660 or the Magic 87
Eligibility Criteria
- must have entered government service before June 1, 1977
- appointment status must be permanent
- last 3 years of service prior to retirement must be continuous, except in cases of death, disability, or abolition of position due to reorganization
- must be at least 52 years old and meet the corresponding years of service (YOS) required for eligibility
Documentary Requirements

- Service Record with Leave without Pay (LWOP) certification (indicating specific time and dates of LWOP)
- Declaration of Pendency/ Non-Pendency of Case (DPNPC) form (date administered/ notarized should be on or after receipt of notification from GSIS.
